What is Running on the Raft all about?

Run run run jump!

Get ready for fun fun fun with our ‘Running On The Raft’  introduced in Level 7 as a more boisterous and fun play time activity at the end of class.   Children usually absolutely love this skill as they are encouraged to run along the raft and leap into the water at the other end where Mummy or Daddy is waiting. 

Everyone helps out by steadying the raft as much as possible  and cheers them on as they go by!!

Little extra skills can be added to be more challenging such as swimming up to the teacher and then up to the raft, learning how to climb up on their own, pushing up from the bottom of the pool once they have jumped in and even adding on another dip upon surfacing and eventually a ‘Swim Breath Swim’ to the wall.

All of this assists your child in the following;

  • To be able to balance on the raft and develop muscle tone and strength
  • Build confidence
  • Build independence
  • To practise the life - saving skill to push up from the bottom of the pool
  • Reinforce all swim skills
