BECOME AN AQUATOTS TEACHER

Why do our Teachers love their job so much?

Being an Aquatots Teacher is exciting, fun and rewarding! There aren't many jobs where you can boast about teaching lifesaving skills from a tiny baby, right up to achieving their 5 metre distance swim as a toddler - and beyond! Our teachers will tell you, it doesn't feel like a job at all.

Each week is different and you become just as invested in your little swimmers progress as their parents are. As you would expect, singing and playing are essential parts of every lesson, but as well as having a splashing good time, we teach our little swimmers and their parents many essential water safety skills. Why wouldn't you love to be a part of that!

The role is perfect for those looking for well-paid, part-time hours to fit around their family, school terms, and/or other work commitments. A large majority of our swimmers attend their swimming lessons at the weekend, so if you are available to teach primarily on a Saturday or Sunday (or both!) we would love to hear from you! There are often opportunities to teach during the week too. Becoming an Aquatots Teacher will allow you to work around your family commitments, and other work too.

What Qualifications Do I Need to Train as an Aquatots Teacher?

  • Are you looking for a new career that is always rewarding and gives great progression prospects?
  • Do you love working with babies and children?
  • Are you passionate about swimming?
  • Are you over 18?
  • Are you able to swim 50 meters comfortably?
  • Do you have prior experience of swimming babies including your own (preferred?)
  • Are you available to work one or two days at the weekend?
  • Do you have use of your own transport?
  • Are you Enthusiastic and Flexible to new challenges?
  • Are you computer literate with the ability to perform tasks such as sending/receiving emails, opening word/excel documents and access Zoom?

If the answer is yes to all of the above this could be the new challenge you have been waiting for. Better still this is not a franchise opportunity so no huge set up costs, plus upon qualification you will have the support of your regional team, as well as the reassurance that you are a partner in one of the longest running, and most successful, baby & child swim school in the South East.

How do I train?

Becoming an Aquatots Teacher is the most fun and rewarding challenge. You will enjoy learning how to become a member of the most inspiring Professional Teaching Team in Baby Swimming and our training program sets the benchmark within the industry.

The training compromises of theory and practical sessions. Your theory will take place largely at our training centre in Farleigh, Croydon which will also have some tutored pool sessions included. Using our Trainee Area, many modules are now also available online for you to learn in the comfort of your own home. We will also provide First Aid and underwater photography training.

The practical sessions will involve you attending weekly pool sessions for a term (9 weeks) with one of our Teacher Development Trainers, where you will get hands on experience of real lessons. You gain invaluable experience working alongside our most experienced Teachers whilst they teach their normal classes, giving you the opportunity to practice your own teaching skills whist under the guidance of your trainer. Upon completion of your training you will be awarded with the Aquatots Baby Swimming Teacher Certification and look forward to teaching your very own babies the following term!

Once I Start Teaching - How much will I get paid?

Our minimum hourly rate starts at £20 per hour, with plenty of opportunities to earn more from commission on various merchandise sales and performance targets. Once you've settled in, the minimum hourly rate with rise to £24, and with additional training you could earn up to £30 per hour!

Can I make this a career, is there progression?

Once you have gained experience as a Baby Teacher, there are many opportunities for you to train further to become an Aquatots Toddler and Child Swim Teacher. You could even follow in your trainer's footsteps, and look to train up the next generation of Aquatots teachers! All of our further training and progression is available at no extra cost to you other than your time. Aquatots is committed to investing in Teachers, and will help you achieve your full potential and invest in your future.
