Diving for Toys
Get ready to add some more fun to your weekly class with our introduction of ‘Diving For Toys’ skill. Children love diving towards the bottom of the pool and bringing the ring/toy back to the surface. With lots of stages of this skill to look forward to, your child will be challenged as they become more confident and capable little swimmers. Initially we are progressing towards your child being able to get to the bottom of the pool, retrieve the toy and push back to the surface independently with it. You can look forward to progressing onto sitting dives to the bottom of the pool and standing dives, ‘Under The Bridge’ that encourages your child to swim under your legs to get the ring/toy and even ‘Child Swap’, where your child dives down and pushes up to give it to another waiting adult. In our higher Toddler levels we can make it lots of competitive fun with races to dive down and bring as many rings as possible back to the surface!
What are the benefits?
A chance to have some extra fun in class, this skill encourages your child to keep their eyes open under water and explore confidently going deeper under the surface. It reinforces our pushing up from the bottom of the pool as a life-saving skill and is the first experience of diving down toward the bottom of the pool. This is a fun way to introduce diving from pool side and using the rings as encouragement aids success.
