Goodbye & Good Luck Andy!
During this Spring Term, Aquatots have sadly said goodbye to one of our longest serving members of staff. Office and Administration Manager Andrew Dickinson, left Aquatots to pursue his dream job as an Environmental and Community Volunteer Officer for Croydon Council.
Andrew has worked with Aquatots since 2000, and has been at the forefront of helping Aquatots to grow into the wonderful swim school we are today. Andrews’ passion for the environment, is the reason he has left Aquatots to join the local environmental team at Croydon Council. You may have seen Andrews’ image on the side of dustcarts around the borough for the last couple of years.
Andrew, set up the Croydon Green Fair, an annual event, designed to educate Croydon residents how best they can make simple changes to improve the green aspect of the local world in which we all live. Andrew, also has a local green radio show that broadcasts weekly, addressing the local environmental issues and topics of interest. We call him ‘DJ Green’.
Not only that but Andrew, came 2nd as a finalist for the volunteer’s award presented by the Mayor of Croydon. Andrew was pipped to the post, only by the scouts, who as a national body, we thought was an unfair, decision, as Andrews’ commitment and tireless efforts are all conducted under his own steam.
His fame and reputation throughout the local borough, led to him being approached by Croydon Council to fill a post that had become vacant at Waddon Park. Being such an active volunteer, he was offered the job as their new Community Volunteer Officer, a job Andrew could only have ever dreamed of taking. With our blessing, he happily accepted the offer and is now busy organizing all the volunteers in the borough and looking after the welfare of the parks across Croydon. Everybody at Aquatots wishes Andrew the very best in his new role. We know he will soon be popping up informing us of the environmental issues throughout the borough and promoting all that is good and green within Croydon.
Andrews’ departure, did leave the office slightly short staffed during the last booking period and this gap was filled with our own keen Teacher volunteers who pitched in to help deal with the mountains of bookings that we needed to process for the Spring Term enrolments.
